Wow! Another legend, master bass player Andy Gonzalez has dropped a new CD “Entre Colegas” This amazingly talented man started at an early age (13 years old) and has continued doing his thing for nearly five decades. Andy has Performed with and/or lead the following groups, Latin Jazz Quintet,Fort Apache Band,Grupo Folklórico Experimental Nuevayorquino, Manny Oquendo and Conjunto Libre,Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Kenny Dorham, Machito, Hilton Ruiz, Mc Coy Tyner, Chico O’ Farrill, Ray Barretto, Johnny Pacheco, Papo Vazquez, Arturo O’ Farrill, Ruben Blades, Bebo Valdes, Eddie Palmieri, Deep Rumba, the Conga Kings, and Rumba Club. Now, that is one awesome resume.
This new production features 10 tracks that range from what we Boricuas call Musica Tipica , Blues, Jazz and Latin Jazz. The following are some Jazz standards recorded on this CD “Ode To Joy”, “A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing”, and one of my alltime favorites “Misty” which was originally recorded as an instrumental in 1954 by the Erroll Garner Trio. This CD also includes “The Addams Family theme song” a Bass infuzed number that is bangin’ which includes Bass player Luques Curtis Bass player from the Eddie Palmieri orchestra. I played this track at a club and the response was amazing.
If you have a diverse taste in music as I do you will certainly love this production. Thank you Andy Gonzalez for this slammin’ production. Make sure you pick this bad boy up and added to your music collection. Latin Jazz como debe ser…Aguaaaa!
