THIS IS A PETITION…PLEASE SIGN AND PASS ALONG TO ALL THE SALSEROS…JUST CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW…LET’S DO THIS

We want The Spanish Broadcasting System to play Salsa/Charanga with the same veracity and frequency of airplay that is given to others genres.
In an effort to engage in a positive dialogue with the owners and operators of the Tri-State Spanish Radio Broadcasting system, the undersigned signatories create this petition.

For many years, the Spanish commercial radio has alienated and underserved certain segments of the Tri-State Latino community, by eliminating traditional Salsa, Charanga and other types of music from their daily programming. It has prevented up and coming Latin bands worldwide, from presenting their music to the general public. Former listeners to your stations current format feel that our music which is rich in heritage, has been systematically eliminated from their daily programming for reasons unknown. Yet when one of our Latin legends passes away, the stations spring into action and feign sympathy just to up the ratings, though while they lived; they gave them little or no attention.

We respectfully ask the owners of these stations to denounce this practice and create fairness in their broadcasting to include all Latino ethnic groups with the same veracity and frequency of airplay that is given to other genres. In addition, there is growing concern amongst local musicians that there is little emphasis in promoting homegrown talent. The denial of airplay to these groups is testament to the fact that no one at present is helping the community they profess to serve. This callous denial to young bands deprives them of their ability to present their talent to the Tri-State public and prevents our musical culture to grow. This act whether intentional or otherwise, fuels accusations of pay for play practices that hinders the growth of a peoples cultural heritage, trust in a fair and balanced service to the community at large that cannot and should not be condoned.

We the undersigned can no longer accept this practice to continue and ask that they review their programming practices. We respectfully request to meet with them in an effort to move these possible changes or additions forward. They may be surprised that more of the community will then support their stations and create more listeners which would be a win win for all. To this end we sign and ask that serious consideration be given to our pleas!
Respectfully,
Latin Artists & DJs
