Miranda” es una producción de Freddie Miranda Jr que contiene 5 temas de salsa y 5 temas
instrumentales (Latin Jazz). El producto cuenta con 22 músicos y artistas invitados, entre ellos: Manolo
Mairena, Gerardo Rivas, Víctor García, Luis “Perico” Ortíz, Freddie Miranda, Sr., Paoli Mejías, y Luisito
Quintero, entre otros. Los arreglos musicales son de Eric Figueroa, Tommy Villarini (RIP), Georgie Padilla,

álbumes de salsa más vendidos de todos los tiempos.
En enero del 2006 Freddie ingresó a la banda de la Fuerza Aérea de los EEUU, presentandose en
escenarios en 4 continentes durante los pasados 17 años. Simultáneamente ha mantenido una agenda
muy activa como músico civil, representando a PR alrededor del mundo y/o grabando en el estudio con músicos y artistas de la talla de Rie Akagi, Sayaka Katsuki, Gen Ogimi, Mario Ortíz Jr (con quien logró 2 nominaciones al Grammy Latino), y Manolo Mairena, entre otros.
Actualmente, Freddie se manene muy activo tocando y grabando con multples orquestas en el área de
la bahía de San Francisco, además de fungir como Director de Operaciones en el “USAF Band of the
Golden West” en Travis Air Force Base, California.

Bio
2-time Latin Grammy nominee Freddie Miranda Jr. was born on February 22, 1971, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. From an early age, Freddie became interested in music, inspired and motivated by his father, the well-renowned Puerto Rican woodwind player and member of El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Wilfredo Cruz Miranda, better known as Freddie Miranda, Sr. It is his father who gives him his first music lessons at the age of seven (7) years on saxophone, clarinet, and music theory. A year later, he discovered his vocation towards percussion, being his first teacher Tony Sanchez, Jr. In 1982 he joined “Escuela Libre De Musica Ernesto Ramos Antonini” and began formal studies in percussion with Professor Samuel Lifschitz (RIP) until 1988 when he graduated from that institution. During this time, Freddie gains experience in symphony orchestras and concert bands. In 1987 he was elected by strict auditions throughout Puerto Rico to join the prestigious group “McDonald’s All American High School Band,” under the musical direction of Dr. William P. Foster (RIP), performing at the “1987 Macy¹s Thanksgiving Day Parade” and “McDonald¹s for Kids Charity Christmas Parade” in Chicago Illinois. In 1987 auditions are held in New York City to form the “1988 McDonald’s All-American High School Jazz Band” under the musical direction of Bob Curnow (president at the time of the National Aso. of Jazz Educators). Freddie became the first and only Puerto Rican ever selected.
In 1990 he entered the popular music circuit in Puerto Rico. Mickey Cora, Lito Peña (RIP), Mario Ortiz (RIP), Luis Garcia, Juan Manuel Lebron, and Chago Martinez gave him his first professional opportunities. In 1992 he started to work for Jerry Rivera’s orchestra for three (3) years. From 1994 until his departure from Puerto Rico in 2006, Freddie participated with different bands and artists locally and internationally in various musical genres with artists such as: Luisito Ayala and Puerto Rican Power, Glenn Monroig, “The Fifth Dimensions”, Bobby Valentin, Luis “Perico” Ortiz, Frankie Ruiz (RIP), Hector Tricoche (RIP), Carlos “Cano” Estremera (RIP), José Alberto “El Canario”, Tito Nieves, Elias Lopés and Orchestra, Marvin Santiago (RIP), Andy Montañez, Plena Libre, Domingo Quinones, Luigi Texidor, Rey Ruiz, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Ray Barreto (RIP), Chucho Avellanet, Juan Gabriel, Lucecita Benitez, Ednita Nazario, Olga Tañon Jose Feliciano, Luis Fonsi, Lunna, Millie Corretjer, José Luis Rodríguez, Pedro Guzman and his “Jibaro Jazz”, the “Humberto Ramirez Jazz Project”, “Franky and Friends Jazz Project”, the “Bacardi World Salsa Congress All Star Band “and the group of stars formed by Luis” Perico “Ortiz,” the Puerto Rican Masters “. He has recorded and collaborated in several Salsa and Latin Jazz productions, many of which have become big hits for several artists, among these; “Bobby Valentin Vuelve A La Cárcel, 25 Aniversario,”; a live recording/live DVD that highlights figures the likes of Rubén Blades, Cheo Feliciano (RIP), Giovanni Hidalgo, Charlie Aponte, Papo Lucca, Cheo Feliciano (RIP), Roberto Rohena and many more. This particular recording is ranked as one of the top-selling salsa albums of all time.
Freddie Miranda Jr. worked for 10 years as a professor of percussion at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico Prep School. Before leaving Puerto Rico, he had performed in about 25 cities in the United States of America (Hispanic and non-Hispanic communities), Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Venezuela, Aruba, Colombia, Peru , Ecuador, Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, St. Croix, and Spain (Madrid, Valencia and the Canary Islands)
In 2006 Freddie moved to Warner Robins, GA, USA, to serve as a member of the “Band of The United States Air Force Reserve”.As a military musician, Freddie has conducted clinics in several universities in the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as presentations across the United States, England, Germany, Turkey, and East Asia and shared the stage with artists such as John Berry, LONESTAR , Take 6, Sandy Patty, Aaron Neville, Jamie O’Neall, Melina León, Wynonna, “The Miracles”, among others. In December 2008, Freddie had the opportunity to participate in a tour of Asia, performing in countries such as Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan as part of a mission in support of thousands of military members in that area. His military decorations include “Air Force Meritorious Service Medal,” “Air Force Commendation Medal,” “Air Force Achievement Medal,” “Good Conduct Medal,” “Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal,” “Combat Readiness Medal,” “Humanitarian Service Medal,” “National Defense Service Medal,” “Global War on Terrorism Service Medal” and “Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.”
In July 2010, Freddie was transferred to Fussa, Tokyo, Japan, to be assigned to “The US Air Force Band of The Pacific/Asia”. This organization has served as a drummer and percussionist in all musical ensembles and is currently working primarily as the drummer of the rock and pop group “Pacific Trends.” For four years, he served as musical director of the first and only group of Latin jazz and “world music” created in the US Air Force band program called “Pacific Clave.” This group had the opportunity to travel throughout Japan to various local jazz festivals and venues. Outside Japan, they had presentations on Guam, and also, in Indonesia, they participated in the renowned “Java Jazz Festival.”
During his tenure in Japan, Freddie kept a busy schedule traveling with “Salsa Swingoza” (listed as salsa band # 1 of Japan) and acting as a guest artist for individual performances and studio recordings with musicians like Sayaka Katsuki, Gen Ogimi, Miho Nakada and Rie Akagi, plus music tours over Korea, Guam, Hawaii, Australia, Brunei and the Pacific region in military and non-military actions. Freddie also led his own salsa and Latin jazz band in Japan, named “Sekai Salsa” (World Salsa or in Spanish “Salsa Mundo”).
In 2016 Freddie moved to Honolulu, Hawaii, where he performed extensively across the Hawaiian Islands and the entire Pacific region. Now relocated in Fairfield, California, he is the Director of Operations for the USAF Band of the Golden West, and continues to perform with several local acts in the Bay Area, such as “Julio Bravo y Orquesta Salsabor,” “Eric Rangel & Orquesta America,” “Don Gato Latin Band,” and “The Latin Rhythm Boys,” among many others. He’s also very sought after as a studio musician.
July 20, 2023, marks the official date of his first solo album “Anda! Toca Miranda, featuring artists such as Freddie Miranda Sr, Luis Perico Ortiz, Gerardo Rivas, Manolo Mairena, Victor Garcia, Paoli Mejias, Kachiro Thompson, Georgie Padilla, Luisito Quintero, among many more.
