Spotlight: Eddie Palmieri “Mi Luz Mayor”

“Mi Luz Mayor”
Released 12/7/2018

Eddie Palmieri’s new production “Mi Luz Mayor” was finally released today (December 7th, 2018). This 83 year old living legend doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. This is his second Album this year and we are so lucky to have him still performing at a high level.

Eddie has put together an outstanding group of musicians to join his band to make this album a must add to your Salsa collection. To start off on vocals he added Gilberto Santa Rosa, to go along with Herman Olivera and also brought Carlos Santana to perform on the track “Mi Congo”. Special guest musicians include the following:

Trombones:
Jimmy Bosch, Joe Fiedler, Chris Washburne, Doug Beavers, Takinori Kajiwara

Alto Sax:
Louis Fouché, Yosvany Terry, Ralph Moore

Tenor Sax: Ivan Renta, Craig Handy, Jeremy Powell

Baratone Sax:
Gary Smulyan, Ronnie Cuber

The album contains 11 tracks which are favorites of Eddie’s wife.
You will also find two Boleros “Que Falta Tu Me Haces” sung by Gilberto Santa Rosa and “Soñando con Puerto Rico” performed by Herman Olivera which I miss listening to and were normally added to all albums back in the day.

The rest of the tracks are for, as we say “Para Los Bailadores”
The Big Band sound is amazing and it brought me back to the Mambo King era.

NewGenSalsa strongly recommends this album.
