A year has passed since you left us – on your journey to your next level of consciousness.
Four days prior to that day, a small group of family and friends gathered at your home to say our goodbye’s. Anyone who really knew Mikey knows how much he loved Salsa, but he loved Latin Jazz just as much. During a conversation with you, I told you I wanted to immortalize your name. I said “Mikey, if you were to produce your own Latin Jazz, how would you go about it?” You thought for a moment and said, “Gee I don’t know” so I suggested “how about Caribbean Jazz Project horn lines but with swing for people to dance to and your answer was “yeaahhh”. I then asked what else, but you were in a lot of pain and answered, “Can I get Back to You Tomorrow” and I said ok, we got the title.
“Do not be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetime, is certain for those who are friends. Rest in peace brother”.
This was a promise to you and I always keep my promises – so here it is…
